Alma's inception was a result of the quest to find the perfect graduation gift for my 17-year-old daughter, Mara. The challenge of meeting the discerning preferences of a teenager led me to the idea of a personalized gift, conceived by my own design. After nights of playful brainstorming, shoes emerged as the standout choice for a multitude of reasons, particularly due to the lack of imaginative and captivating designs available in the market.
In my initial attempt at design, Mara's feedback was a reality check, her unique aesthetic aspirations became a catalyst, allowing me to explore a spectrum of design concepts and themes in pursuit of that elusive sweet spot. As I elevated my creative game to match my daughter's expectations, I birthed six distinct designs – each crafted with the sole purpose of her happiness.
As I shared these designs with friends and family, their overwhelmingly positive reactions ignited a spark beyond just pleasing my daughter. Drawing from my entrepreneurial background, I shifted my perspective to a more business-oriented one.
Questions like the prevailing market landscape, competition, and potential advantages became paramount. The revelation struck that large corporations and genuine creativity seldom walk hand in hand. With success, companies tend to pivot towards risk mitigation, sidelining true creative innovation. The more I delved, the more I comprehended, and the more I understood, the brighter my optimism grew.
Alma was conceived to fill the void in the shoe market – offering designs that are truly distinctive, creatively refreshing, and stylistically distinct. Our mission is twofold: to evoke smiles from those who lay eyes on our designs, whether they understand why or not; and to inspire contemplation, urging individuals to become better versions of themselves.
